Hellebores at Post Office Farm Nursery- July 2022.
I tried to capture just some of the diversity of forms, colors and flower structures on show at the Post Office farm Production Nursery- as part of Gastronomy Residency at Bendigo TAFE Food and Fibre Centre of Excellence. I created the soundtrack music mixing environment, bell and other instrument sound sources with contrasting harmonious and slightly dissonant musical patterns with the intention of capturing the restful beauty, mysterious and even gothic connotations of Hellebores with their heritage including witchery and alchemy, natural insecticide, toxicity and even medicinal properties. This amazing flower species have travelled the world and these specific flowers are literally the result of decades of delicate and heavy manual work hand pollinating with tweezers, re-potting tiny seedlings and caring for each plant for at least three years.
