Welcome here ! You can use the menu at the very top of the page to find your own journey through this web of methods and making. My work takes shape in forms such as soundscape, music, animated image, films, installations, timber Jewellery ("Messages from Trees"). All my crafting of objects are intended as gifts or questions to ponder !
I am Paul Fletcher, you can find me on Soundcloud and Bandcamp as,
"Ed Mundio"(based on my middle name Edmund). My "Owlbert" name, used for some work and email communication, is based on a character I created out of a seed pod for "Hidden Creatures" exhibitions (2008-2016).
"Digital Compost" is my Vimeo archive of several 100 video works that often build dense (!) or complex interactions of simple layers of image and sound to create a form of digital video compost, abstract narrative or visual music...
And previously I ran a very small business and consultancy "Simply Edible Gardens"(1990-2000) ,organic, permaculture, landscaping.

" There is a nexus of nature, film, animation, sound, new and old technology and music, that Paul accesses to create work that expresses footprints of nature, history and futurism and its impact on human awareness. In Paul’s films, and the soundtracks that he has provided for me, the presence of nature, from somewhere, is always there. Whilst there are patterns, predictability isn’t necessarily visible or audible - nature gives us what we expect and don’t expect.
... the power of non-human nature is trying to connect with the viewer and we need to have the capacity to try and listen and respect what they (it) may have to say. Sometimes, when watching Paul’s films, I wonder if I am looking at ghosts of nature or future spirits.
Paul’s films have authentic personal structures. I can see Paul’s fingerprints in the work- which may be the result of me having watched a lot of his films! What I mean though, is that the works look personal, investigative and experimental – a willingness to discover something out in the making. "

"Paul Fletcher is a restless, prolific experimenter and innovator who has been creating music, short film and animation for many years. His personal art practice is vast and – in truth – better known overseas than in Australia.
Paul first experimented with analogue electronics such as super 8 film cameras, home-made instruments and hacked reel-to-reel recorders in his final years of high school. Since then, digital technologies have allowed him greater improvisation and spontaneity along with the ability to rework, edit and refine. The DIY attitude of 1980s punk remains a strong influence, no matter the tools. Now a master in the field, Paul has a substantial body of experimental animation that is as intriguing as it is beautiful.

"I have known Paul for more than 20 years and have been mightily impressed as a witness to the constant creation of highly innovative, often evocative and always imaginative experimental animated films that he has produced. Increasingly these films also display a sophisticated approach to sound and music creation. They also tend to respond to specific ‘environments’ as sources of inspiration in highly imaginative ways that I doubt anybody else would conjure. In my capacity as director/programmer of the Melbourne International Animation Festival, I have selected work by Paul to screen in every festival since the early 2000’s and in one year had the festival showcase a retrospective of his film work. Building on this, however, I would say that Paul is an artist who absorbs a place, space or environment and [somehow] processes elements of that into work that [somehow] simultaneously mirrors and juxtaposes those elements. I have seen this personally in places as diverse as planetariums, odd libraries of curiosities, public gardens and zoos but I know the list expands well beyond this.”

"I found your work at the Beehive(Conflux Installation) very engaging, especially as it seemed to work so well with my whimsical (Sculptural)pieces. I felt a connection between our work, the abstract organic shapes that seemed quite symbiotic with each other. Your use of video and sound to create installations is a great way to enhance public spaces and engage an audience. I found the work interesting, calming, engaging and quite beautiful.
