"Cadencia" Dir: Aurora Gasull Music Raoul Costafreda
The starting point for the visuals for Cadència was the sound base that Raul composed, mysterious, fickle, with a modulation that repeats, slow and suggestive, out of time. Then, in the live performance, Raúl improvises by adding other layers and sound effects.
In Raúl's words: "The music is inspired by baroque religious compositions for organ. It is a harmonic sequence that does not rest and seeks a mystical and divine effect. Delicate and subtle. Totally improvised, with a final layer of midi guitar notes that, like little tears, color the piece."
I started improvising with Raúl's base with a simple but extremely sensitive stage that I had been working on with TouchDesigner. My stage had many possibilities, too many to be able to make the visuals live, so little by little I discarded possibilities and stayed with the essentials.
Technically, the visuals of Cadència are built with a straight black line formed by 1920 points, which I alter with the movement of the mouse. Basically I vary the relationship between them so that the points can move away with more or less hardness and distance. I also act on the thickness of the points and the colored trace that the points leave and the line that joins them when moving, with more or less intensity and persistence. https://www.aurora.cat/

Gergana is a young student who is currently studying Animation at New Bulgaria University and has previously completed Music studies at Sava Dobroplodni School of Arts. Her film “In me” in her words is “In mе" is an abstract
animated film about the processes occurring in the human body, presented through a series of drawings.

CONUNDRUM

Conundrum- Dir: Ben Wrigley À lifetime of observation. Wrigley draws on his personal creative photography archive to create this work, ‘Conundrum’. Quebec-based visual artist whose practice is rooted in a strong foundation in fine arts
and a 30-year career as an art critic and journalist.

Valeria is an animator, digital storyteller, and visual artist from the Universidad de los Andes, specializing in the creation of audiovisual stories that combine animation, sound, and writing.
“The Dance of Chaos is an experimental animated short film that translates Gabrielle Roth's Five Rhythms theory into an abstract audiovisual experience. Through movement and sound design, the animation replaces the physical body to take viewers on a sensory journey that traverses different rhythms until reaching a state of contained chaos..”
